Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name, “The Handmaid’s Tale” premiered as a television series on Hulu in April 2017. Created by Bruce Miller, the show quickly gained critical acclaim for its chilling adaptation of Atwood’s dystopian vision. The series is directed by various filmmakers, including Reed Morano, Mike Barker, and Daina Reid. It stars Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, a woman forced into servitude in the totalitarian regime of Gilead.

Bittersweet.

Today we release the final edition of the semester, and it is also my last one as Executive Editor of Horseshoe Magazine.

Thank you to every writer, editor, photographer, and reader who made this magazine what it is. Horseshoe lived because of you.

Thank you to Haiden Leach @haiden.leach for building this with me, and to Susan Campbell for changing my life and trusting me with something that meant everything.

Horseshoe is in incredible hands. Gabby will lead it beautifully. Please keep supporting the voices behind it.

This is not a goodbye. I will be back.

And just like that, the Fall semester comes to an end.

This is our final edition for this semester, and we made it a pretty great one. There are stories about discoveries and also bittersweet endings.

What’s bittersweet is that we have to say goodbye to our wonderful executive editor Elisa. She resurrected Horseshoe and none of us would be here without her. She got the magazine up and running and turned it into what you see today. We don’t know what we’re going to do without her.

While it’s sad to see her go, there’s also such a bright future ahead. A whole new semester of writing coming soon! And it’s all because of Elisa that any of this is possible.
